    What is JUNES ?

    United Nations Youth Association Switzerland (JUNES) is an independent, non-partisan & non-profit umbrella organization, uniting all Model United Nations associations in Switzerland. JUNES was founded in 2007 by former Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey to sensitize Swiss youth to the work and value of the UN and bring the voice of civil-society youth to the UN. Since its founding JUNES continues to pursue its mission operating six national projects, two international projects meanwhile representing Swiss UN Youth nationally & internationally.

    What are the responsibilities of the JUNES Webmaster?

    The Webmaster of JUNES is appointed by the JUNES General Assembly in Lausanne 13th September 2014 and serve for one year from 13th September 2014 – September 2014 with possibility of extension. He or she will operate the JUNES in-house website, social media platforms and organizational designs. Furthermore the webmaster must work in close collaboration with our Translation team and mandated project teams.

    The position is non-remunerated, but rewarded with a recommendation from the Presidency of JUNES.

    The responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

    • Forge synergy with member association; keep information flowing from member associations to the JUNES platforms and vice versa.
    • Keep the Board of JUNES informed on current state of actions, progress & difficulties, of the online presence of JUNES.
    • In principle, take part in all monthly Board Meetings of JUNES.
    • Assist & supervise all mandated project teams, to generate online content.
    • Strengthen JUNES as the primary online platform for Swiss UN Youth interaction & action.

    Your profile:

    • Active student in Switzerland; Enrolled for B.A, M.A. or P.H.D at a Swiss University.
    • Residing in Switzerland until autumn 2014, with basic knowledge of Swiss culture & politics.
    • Proficient level in English & German or French. Knowledge of Italian & other languages an asset.
    • Some knowledge of PMP / HTML / CSS as well as WordPress.
    • Basic knowledge of social media interaction & engagement.
    • Interest in the United Nations System & Model United Nations.
    • Flair for working in a multicultural context & performing multi-dimensional tasks.
    • Natural talent for team-management, solid organizational skill & sense of responsibility.

    What is JUNES ?

    What is the JUNES Presidency?

    The Presidency may consist of President & Vice-President, with the later serving as sub-ordered assistance to the President, or two Co-Presidents with side-ordered and equal responsibilities. The executive positions as P/VP or CO-Ps are complimented by the Treasurer, responsible for Fundraising & Finances. The Presidency is ultimately responsible to the Board of JUNES. Their primary task is to ensuring strategic and legal compliance with decisions of the Board of JUNES and subsequently for overseeing recruitment, implementation, monitoring & evaluation of all activities of JUNES. The presidency is, as all people working for JUNES, non-remunerated volunteer positions.

    What are the responsibilities of the Presidency?

    The Presidency of JUNES is elected by the JUNES General Assembly in Lausanne 13th September 2014 and serve for one year from 13th September 2014 – September 2014 with possibility of extension.

    The responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

    • Forge synergy with member association; organize, prepare & manage monthly board meetings, remain available to assist & supervise member associations, take demand-driven approach to day-to-day decision-making processes & accommodate wishes of members.
    • Keep the Board of JUNES informed on current state of actions, progress & difficulties, furthermore assist the Board determine & monitor activities, opportunities & challenges.
    • Assist & supervise all mandated project teams, ensure compliance with sub-targets, reporting and evaluation mechanisms.
    • Represent JUNES to stakeholders & partners; Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, United Nations Association Switzerland (GSUN), Swiss National Youth Council (CSAJ/SAJV), World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), United Nations Youth Association Network (UNYANet), United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG), Mercator Foundation ect.
    • Strengthen JUNES as the primary platform for Swiss UN Youth interaction & action.

    Your profile:

    • Active student in Switzerland; Enrolled for B.A, M.A. or P.H.D at a Swiss University.
    • Residing in Switzerland until autumn 2014, with basic knowledge of Swiss culture & politics.
    • Proficient level in English & German or French. Knowledge of Italian & other languages an asset.
    • At least one year experience working or volunteering for non-profit organisations.
    • Profound knowledge and interest in the United Nations System & Model United Nations.
    • Flair for working in a multicultural context & performing multi-dimensional tasks.
    • Natural talent for team-management, solid organizational skill & sense of responsibility.

  • JUNES General Assembly 2014 in Lausanne!

    Dear Members, Sponsors & Partners, 

    A year has past, JUNES turns seven years old and the election term 2013/2014 of the presidency is coming to an end. Therefore the current JUNES Board & Presidency unanimously decided that this year’s General Assembly of JUNES will take place on 13.09.2013 in Lausanne. Save the date ! 

    The General Assembly of JUNES 2014 is the highest level decision-making body of JUNES. It will convene JUNES delegates and Presidencies of all 13 Member Associations. Each Member Association holds two-votes, which may be cast in favor, against or abstaining on a matter under discussion. It is the noble task of the JUNES General Assembly to convene annualy to decide on high-substantious matter of JUNES: Composition of Presidency, Long-term strategy, Entrusted projects, Annual budget ect.

    The current Presidency of JUNES consisting of Co-President Gabriel Füglistaler, Co-President Isabel Heller Sørensen & Treasurer Raphael Jakob, will not run for re-election! Position decribtions for President/Vice-President or Co-Presidents, Treasurer & Webmaster are published mid-July. 

    The preliminary Programme issued by the Co-Presidents and approved by the Board is the following:

    11:00 – 13:00 General Assembly (1st Session)

    13:00 – 13:30 Break

    13:30 – 15:00 General Assembly (2nd Session)

    15:00 – 15:15 Break

    15:15 – 16:30 Workshops ( 1.WordPress web design & Social media 2. Fundraising )

    16:30 – 17:00 Transfer to BBQ Venue

    17:00 – 19:00 Leisure activity inspired by the Olympic Capital

    19:00 –  23:00 BBQ by the Lakeside

    For the General Assembly 2014, the Presidency has strong ambitions to convene all current and future stakeholders of JUNES for a day in Lausanne. This include but are not limited to all former & current; JUNES delegates, JUNES presidencies, JUNES project managers & participants, Presidencies of  Member Associations, Sponsors, Collaboration organisations & other relevant partners.
